David Tattam (Director)

David TattemDavid Tattam is the founder of Protecht Advisory and is a specialist in all facets of risk management. Recognised internationally as an authority on Operational Risk Management, David regularly presents on the subject across the globe.

As the principal trainer for Protecht, David has developed and presented a suite of courses across all areas of risk management, financial markets and financial instrument accounting.

David co-developed Protecht's highly regarded methodology for operational risk management, which is supported by Protecht's Operational Risk Management software, WORMSTM. He was also instrumental in designing the firms Asset and Liability Risk Management software, ALARMSTM.

David is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, and a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia.

Career History
David is a chartered accountant, spending four years with Grant Thornton (UK) and seven years with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Sydney working in Financial Services Audit, Banking Technical and Learning and Education.

He then spent four years with IBJ Australia Bank as Head of Operations and Head of Risk Management, followed by four years as Head of Operations and Risk Management at WestLB Bank where he was responsible for setting up and running its' Financial Market Settlements, Accounting, Risk Management, IT and Administration departments.

David Bergmark (Director)

David BergmarkDavid Bergmark joined Protecht in 2000 and is a specialist in Asset and Liability and Operational Risk Management. David is primarily focused on supporting Protecht's range of risk management services to clients in Australasia.

David co-designed Protecht's ALARMSTM and WORMSTM risk management software and is responsible for their ongoing technical development.

David is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, and the Financial Services Institute of Australia.

Career History
David commenced his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1989 after which he joined Carrington Securities as Risk Controller, establishing the accounting, risk and regulatory reporting functions for a number of equity derivative trading books. In 1996 he joined IBJ Australia Bank as Head of Risk Management managing all risk aspects of the bank. During that time he coordinated development and implementation of a market risk management system in compliance with APRA regulatory requirements to cover foreign exchange, swap and interest rate futures trading and ALM portfolios. The system reported portfolio gap, sensitivity and VaR for the various products traded at the bank. In addition to market risk, he was also responsible for coordinating and implementing liquidity risk models and associated risk policy statements.

Andrew Tagg (Chief Financial Officer)

Andrew TaggAndrew Tagg joined Protecht Advisory in July 2007 where he is responsible for the organisation's Finance and Administration functions.

Career History
A chartered accountant who began his career with Pricewaterhouse in Perth, Andrew has worked in the UK, USA and Indonesia over a period of 10 years after his qualification.

Upon his return to Australia Andrew joined the local subsidiary of The Industrial Bank of Japan (IBJ) in Perth. IBJ was one of 16 financial institutions issued with a Banking Licence by the Hon Paul Keating, when Treasurer of Australia. IBJ was a wholesale bank specialising in Corporate & Project Finance, Treasury products and Customer accounts.

Following a transfer to Sydney, Andrew held a range of management positions in IBJ, culminating in Senior General Manager with responsibility for Finance and Administration. Andrew, as Company Secretary, regularly dealt with the independent Directors on the IBJ Board and was a key liaison person with APRA, external auditors and other advisers. Following the merger of IBJ with 2 other large Japanese financial institutions in 2002, Andrew decided a change was in order and moved to the Roads & Traffic Authority in Sydney in their corporate finance area, where he gained exposure to the workings and objectives of public institutions.

Ian Brooks (Senior Risk Advisor)

Ian BrooksIan Brooks joined Protecht Advisory in May 2007 and is involved in the development, implementation, and support of both the company's risk management systems. Ian participates in the delivery of the annual ALARMS survey and assists clients on a day-today basis with risk management issues and questions as well as being actively involved in on-site implementations of the Web-Based Operational Risk Management System for clients.

Career History
Ian began his working career in the London financial industry over 20 years ago and in that time has gained experience within the British, American, Japanese and Australian banking systems.

His early work in London was with Lloyds Bank and then Lehman Brothers, where he worked in the Trade Analysis department covering Exposure and Profit & Loss management in their commodities, options and bond trading books.

Ian moved to Australia in 1996 and commenced working for the Industrial Bank of Japan Australia Bank (IBJA); he joined the newly formed Risk Management Department and was involved in the formulation and development of IBJA's risk management policies, capability and structure. During this time he worked closely as a team with David Tattam and David Bergmark - the current Directors of Protecht Advisory. His position with IBJA just prior to a merger in 2002 was Chief Manager, Risk Management.

After the worldwide merger of IBJ, Dai-Ichi Kangyo and Fuji Bank, Ian was appointed the Chief Manager, Risk Management in Mizuho with key responsibilities for Treasury and Loan Administration. In addition he chaired the Bank's ALCO, Operational Risk, Treasury Risk and Compliance committees. Ian also dealt regularly with the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority on prudential matters as well as with external advisers on banking issues.

Paul Argall (Sales Director)

Paul Argall joined the Protecht team in August 2009 as the Sales Director. He brings almost 10 years of sales and account management experience to Protecht Advisory.

Career History
Paul's background has been in software sales and key account management within the finance sector. He has experience with Business Intelligence, Transactional Banking and Corporate Performance Systems.

Peter Walker (Head of Development)

Peter WalkerPeter Walker joined the Protecht team as Head of Development in 2007, bringing with him over 15 years of experience in software development. Peter is responsible for the management of the improvement, development, and support of the Web-Based Operational Risk Management System (WORMSTM).

Career History
Peter's background is in software development and consultancy within the Network, Systems and Database management space, more recently in IT Service Management, ITIL and Six Sigma.

Some of the companies that he has worked at include
Australian Software Innovations, Sento Corporation, BMC Software, Proxima Technology, and Compuware Corporation.
